HARRY F. SMITH
Joined the Air Force on July 9, 1952 and served 4
½ years. Turned Professional in 1956 with Cus D'Amato as his manager and
retired with a 9-2 record. Sparred with Joe Brown and Orlando Zulaueta,
both lightweight champions and with Davey Moore the featherweight champion.
Appointed as the first African-American referee in New York State in 1984
by former New York State Althletic Commissioner Jose Torres.
